1987 Toyota Gear Transfer Case Drive Parts Breakdown

This is the ORIGINAL Gear Bulldoze Transfer Case Bible created by Marlin Crawler back in the 90s. All styles are a 2-speed plus neutral design, with a 1.00:one high range and a ii.28:1 depression range. The loftier range is a direct-drive straight-through design which maximizes efficiency and torque handling. Because the input directly connects to the output, there is no fashion to alter the high range gear ratio. In neutral, the front and rear outputs are connected to i some other with only the input rotating independently of both outputs. Twin Stick kits are bachelor that allow for the input + rear output + front output to all iii rotate independently of one another.

How to ID Gear Drive Example
If you lot have vii bolts in the rear cover then you take the gear driven unit of measurement.
If you accept v bolts holding the rear cover then you accept the concatenation drive unit.
Bolt #7 is behind the bulldoze shaft and can't be seen in this picture.
Top vs Forward Shift
In both photos the manual and transfer case accept been separated to prove where i ends and the other starts. It also helps show the shift forks on the forward shift setup. The left photo shows a top shifting transfer example and transmission. Discover the tcase shifter comes out of the top of the tcase. The transmission has but one shifter. Notice there are no forks on the forepart of the tcase. The correct photo is a forward shift transfer case. Detect the block off plate on peak of the case. This unit is shifted through two rails that connect to the manual. A forward shift transmission similar this one has two shifters, 1 for the tranny and 1 for the tcase. The cake off plate of a forward shift style tcase can exist seen from nether the vehicle. From under the truck on the driver side look up at the transfer case to meet the cake off plate.
